Types
There are three types of gypsum boards in China: paper-faced gypsum board, fiber gypsum board and hollow gypsum strip board:
①Paper-faced gypsum board is a lightweight thin board made of gypsum as the core material and reinforced with paper on both sides;
②Fiber gypsum board is a lightweight thin board made of gypsum as the cementing material and various organic or inorganic fibers (such as paper fiber, grass fiber, glass fiber, etc.) as reinforcing materials. It is 8-12 mm thick and weighs 7-9 kg/m;
③Hollow gypsum strip board is also a hollow partition board made of gypsum as the cementing material, mixed with various lightweight materials or reinforcing fibers (such as expanded vermiculite, expanded perlite, glass fiber, etc.), with a thickness of 60-100 mm and a wall weight of 40-60 kg/m. Paper-faced and fiber gypsum thin boards need to use steel, wood, and gypsum keels as the skeleton to form partition walls. Hollow gypsum strip boards have a certain rigidity and can form partition walls without a skeleton. Gypsum boards are easy to cut and process, but they are also easy to damage. Therefore, special machines are required during transportation and installation. During construction and installation, in order to ensure that the joints do not crack, attention should be paid to the arrangement of the board joints, and the joints must be properly treated with special adhesive materials.
Function
(1) Sound insulation. The double-layer separated sound insulation wall composed of thin plates and the double-layer sound insulation wall composed of hollow strips have a sound insulation effect equivalent to that of a 24 cm thick brick wall, and the sound insulation index can reach 40 to 50 decibels.
(2) Fire prevention. Gypsum boards are non-combustible materials with certain fire resistance. Some can be used as fire protection layers for steel structures.
(3) Strength. When the lateral load of the wall is 250 Pa, the maximum lateral deformation of the wall is no more than 1/240 of the wall height.
(4) Humidity regulation. When the humidity in the air is greater than its own water content, the gypsum board can absorb moisture in the air; conversely, the gypsum board can release moisture in the board and play a role in regulating the humidity in the indoor air.
